Hi @LandBarge is that snapper wings ?
It looks very edible - even the beer
The web page on the new facility is slick and professional too.

But it’s not the competition that pushed my buttons, it’s Scott Player defecting to an opposition company

My old dad would say “back jockeys not horses” and since I have been looking at the stock market that cliche had proved true over and over as a measure of gauging potential success.
I have a fair amount invested in Gage and have been happy to let it sleep but the recent  curiousity  around the Redfern venue prompted by @luvox  has continued to prod me.

...so, to share, FWIW, here is a bit of relevant timelining

Scott  was appointed in June 2016 :

Gage Roads Brewing Company has appointed a new national sales and marketing manager as well as announcing the rollout of its AIBA 2016 Champion Australian Beer, Little Dove.
Scott Player, formerly national head of sales at Matso’s Broome Brewery and Little Creatures, will take up the posting at Gage Roads.
He will already be familiar with the Gage Roads business, with Matso’s having been a long-term contract brewing customer of the Palmyra, WA company.

“Scott has a proven track record in developing national sales capabilities and delivering growth of multiple craft beer brands, notably taking Little Creatures to number one in the category and executing the sales and distribution strategy for Matso’s driving their niche product into the top 10 craft brands nationally,” Gage Roads said.

As National Sales Manager, in September 2017 he won Perth Stadium Contract

On April 10 last year Miles Hull was appointed as ‘national marketing leader’.
He had also been involved at Little Creatures but it seems this was only up until 2013 - before Scott Player came on board there; https://www.cmo.com.au/article/635895/aussie-craft-beer-producer-appoints-marketing-chief/
Miles Hull previously spent six years running the creative development and marketing department at Western Australia-based Little Creatures, where he was responsible for brand work around the brewery’s key White Rabbit and Pipsqueak Cider products. During his tenure to 2013, the company extended its footprint on Australia’s east coast, and Hull launched the fresh dining hall concept in Victoria as well as established the White Rabbit Brewery in Healesville, Victoria.

....although the story from last December has me confused about his time at Little Creatures ...
And also, on re-reading about his loyalties :

Meanwhile, Hull is working on some side projects of his own with that Darwin-born bestie who never left Perth, Clint Nolan. Come January, the pair will open the Quarter Acre Hotel, a family-friendly, neighbourhood watering hole in Applecross that will turn the carpark into a beer garden. Hull admits there’s a dash of self-interest involved, given he, his wife and three children live nearby. But the lack of options are also what made him believe a community pub —doing all-day food, sangria pitchers and cocktails, as well as a serious beer selection, of course — would work well there.”
    ....
    Also
....now has plans to build a playful 126-room, eight- storey hotel in Northbridge — in partnership with Nolan.
“We’re looking to do an edgy, vibrant-style hotel for Perth,” he says. “There are beautiful heritage buildings where we’ll be doing a pub and diner, next to an empty block where we’ll do the hotel. They’ll connect, with old and new melding together, a big, open-space lobby that will open into the bar, and a north-facing garden.” Leadlight Hotel is set to open on the corner of Newcastle and Beaufort streets in 2021.

On re-reading that story in a glass half empty way I’m picking up an image of a great salesman who self confesses to “winging it”, has a bad back, a number of other interests and not all that strong a grasp on the “Return to Craft “ focus .

Drawing a long bow I am also wondering if Scott Player’s departure from Gage had anything to do with personality conflicts .

Creating the  250 seat venue in Redfern is obviously something Miles is a able to do but to what effect ?
How many seats are they expecting to fill each night , how many of the potential 250 per night visitors  will be return customers ..lots of other questions too including if they are planning in doing a roll out of these kind of venues at $3 million each where is the money going to come from and what is the strong  branding that is going to pull people in when each one will apparently be unique and local and different .

And who is going to be directing the running all these places if Miles’ interests are so much otherwise engaged?

I am needing to hear more good news from Gage right now
    Cheers
