While I remain optimistic about our chances once the trade war with China is over, I think you have made a very good observation about the change in the excuse narrative.

The trade war has been a strong reason for BTAs with China not happening. It’s easy to understand and hard to argue with.

But gradually other “reasons” have been introduced and now the trade war reason has been retired from the excuse narrative in advance of it being settled. It’s a cunning effort.

While GV can only control what he can control, the CEO must ultimately carry the can for success or failure.

I am confident GV can get it done after the trade war finishes. But if not I think we need to try somebody with more charisma and better contacts
