There have clearly been some rumours perpetuated... AFR came out with something saying Latitude was looking at it, which turned out to be salacious .. They denied it.. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/financial-services/pressure-off-as-latitude-denies-raid-on-zip-stock/news-story/3fda3a4786b69cd260fdd45a490da136.Based on my conversations, the banks still see the industry and credit as immature... you could be right them hedging bets... but all the big four have taken minority positions in other listed alt-fis in the past... not many have ended up being taken out... but I Think its a good while out before we see that... potentially at maturity, but by then growths calmed and valuations have matured... Banks are very conservative beasts...Having been involved in enough securitisations in my day, Looking at historical acquisitions as a guide, you could almost guarantee you will not get a bank board to sign off on something thats not trading on a PE multiple, or realistic forward earnings, considering theyd have to fund the book and their own internal credit risk matrix's would require it, particularly post APS 120 ... Maybe another bigger BNPL player will be inclined to take out Z1p in the future... who knows.
