Yeh, just like Crypto killed off FX and international payments haha... could be a mania... or not ... Ones things for sure, as you said, Visa and MC are as strong as ever
BNPL is just a flavour or a subset of consumer credit... The credit card could definitely cease to exist, but more so morph into virtual cards - like we are already seeing - ie 15/16 digit credit accounts.... The likes of Splitit perhaps are pre-empting the potential appetite of existing Visa/MC issuers to provide an installment option for a certain suite of cards... Its bound to become more mainstream.
However there will always be a demand for premium cards, with rewards and big limits ... cant see BNPL disrupting that... unless they offer serious rewards per dollar... which would probably send them broke - probably not going to happen
