Amongst my first post on this forum. If you disagree, that's cool. All I want to do is contribute constructively to this discussion rather than make predictions about the share price.
I worry about Brine projects becoming an unviable source of lithium for downstream companies (such as EV car makers) because of Indigenous community concerns and worries about environmental impacts.
The specific environmental impact that worries me is water scarcity. For example, if an unethically ran brine project is found out to be pilfering water to the detriment of communities in the area it could have a massive impact on companies that have these kind of projects. E.g. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/business/batteries/tossed-aside-in-the-lithium-rush/?noredirect=on or https://dialogochino.net/24736-communities-challenge-lithium-production-in-argentina/
There are already examples of companies that want to source lithium in an ethical way https://www.dw.com/en/electric-carmakers-must-make-ethical-battery-amnesty/a-48003598 I think volkswagen, bmw or Toyota were already making statements about this but I can find the link.
Anyway, I would appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE comments on this if you have any.
