You're right, the exact location of their birth is irrelevant. But that they were directors together of that particular company, in a non-Australian country, does to me have some relevance in terms of due diligence.

For what it's worth I also made a 5 figure loss, and yes, that does reflect poor judgement in having got involved with LCK in the first place. But I consider I showed good judgement in then cutting my losses, and am perfectly happy to count it as the price of experience. I won't be purchasing another stock about which I feel niggling doubts.
