Sorry Hummerboy but your analysis of buying low and selling high on financials is a good one though Australia really has not been that bad effected by credit crisis. Only a few co's have take a hit which were extremly over leveraged.
I have pulled all of my positions out the indexes atm. Shorting could catch you out at present with a small rally kicking your LONG's in but on the other hand buying the ETF's does look like a lesser risk as some these financial co's could be hiding some ugly marks on their asset sheets.
You have seen what is happening in the US & the EZ why would you risk something that looks imminent here in Australia.
One in 498 homes in the US are currently being forclosed on everyday, their estate market on average went up 120%. How much has estate increased in your area?
