My take on whats happening is:

Maybe focussed too much on playing personality politics rather than work hard in the electorates.

Maybe they also underestimated the impact of some losing money from some of their policies.

No-one likes to give up anything - to govt in particular.

If they lose and it looks like they will they will have lost the un-losable election.

What about the poor sap who put a million on a Labor win and at crazily short odds!
