    Higginsville plant geared to go

    Monday, 16 June 2008 - MINING NEWS -

WITH construction wrapped up, Avoca Resources’ 1 million tonne Higginsville treatment plant in Western Australia’s goldfields region has whirred into action.

The new 1Mt per annum carbon-in-leach plant will be used to treat ore from Avoca’s nearby Trident resource.

Full commissioning of the plant will see an initial 40,000 tonnes of low-grade ore processed, with treatment of high-grade feed expected to begin in July.

Perth-based Avoca said the company anticipates the stockpile of high-grade ore will reach around 150,000 tonnes in July.

The completed 10MW Higginsville power station is providing power to the treatment plant.

Praising Avoca management and construction contractor GRES Engineering, Avoca managing director Rohan Williams said the completion of the plant was a “fantastic achievement”.

Stocks in Avoca gained 4c to $2.37.
