In the interview, I was a bit non-plussed by Leo Lee's comment that Regeneus intends "to start our phase 2 study in Japan in the near future, probably in 2021...". That's 2 years away and it seems a bit of a stretch to characterise that as "the near future". Given that the phase 1 work was completed in 2017, I'd have thought that the last 2 years would have been spent getting prepared for the phase 2 study, so that things would be ready to roll when a Progenza licensee in Japan was signed up.

Perhaps it is no longer intended that a prospective Progenza licensee would conduct the phase 2 study in Japan. Maybe the company intends to initiate the study itself - hence the divestment of the RGSH4K and animal health businesses - ie. to raise cash for working capital and to help fund the phase 2 Progenza study in Japan.

Of course I'm speculating here, but I did notice that in the interview, and in last Thursday's company advertising feature in the AFR there was not a word mentioned about seeking a prospective Progenza licensee in Japan. What was said in the advertising feature was that the company was a matter of "months away from finalising a "new partnership to distribute its knee osteoarthritis product".

Maybe I'm missing something quite important, but I'm struggling to see the need for a Progenza distributor in Japan, if the strategy remains to licence the use of the product to a specific company or companies in that country.

Anyway, I have asked the company for clarification, but thus far I remain waiting for a response to my queries.
