The only reason is if you are confident in the company's board. Buying them on market doesn't give the company any extra funds - hence you participate int he CR and the money goes to the company.
I was only thinking yesterday about picking up some more shares, as I think there is more upside coming, so I will participate, as I invest in companies and dont just buy their stock.
