Don't forget folks that the price Paradigm will receive will be markedly different to the price paid at the chemist!
Once a drug is approved to be on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme there is a price agreement process between the 2 parties to determine how much it will be subsidised by the PBS...Obviously PAR has a pretty good argument for cost-benefit, not only avoiding joint replacements down the road, but also reducing arthroscopies in the short term, not to mention cost savings on other anti-inflammatories/opioids, plus the potential productivity in not losing these people from the workforce....
I agree that patients are probably not going to front up with $2000 for their course of pentosan, but they may well pay $200 or so, while the PBS quietly pays the other $1800 that you don't see!
