It is certainly a speculative tech play.

Though IMO, Pointerra's beginnings have many parallels with Nearmap

ie. a related space, tough financial start with massive up front capex, hard to get traction initially and convince people of the demand, patents that many were not sure of the value thereof - but soon to snowball and to yield great returns for early backers who saw the tough early times out. I think if Pointerra can address your needs and concerns (and probably a myriad of similar concerns from others in the field) then perhaps their product can dominate.

At least that is what we are counting on. The product has certainly came along in leaps and bounds in a short time.
