China have pretty much ridden the coat tails of free trade whilst heavily protecting their own domestic economy. For instance, you think it's fair that China, the second largest economy, still gets postal rebates from other nations because they refuse to re-classify themselves from a developing nation? Yep, that's why all that crap people buy from China is so cheap to post from there. Because other countries subsidise their postage system.
