Edit: I just watched the Pitt St Research video again and based on what Yuval said you're correct BobF - the more chips you add to a speaker the lower the frequency that can be reached. He mentioned 1 chip for 250Hz and 10 chips to get down to 25Hz, which all makes sense to me now. I had thought that frequencies below a certain point might tail off rather than maintain a linear slope right down to 1Hz. So in regards to that valuation I put together I can now be pretty confident in saying 12 chips per speaker (in the vehicle example) will provide significant full range sound without the need for a sub (or the simplified structure model). Truly amazing stuff.
