The ultimate test is still what it sounds like. Until they play high fidelity music they can't be sure that there aren't audible artifacts introduced which don't manifest when playing simple frequency sweeps. I remember after an AGM a few years ago the AP guys were reported as commenting that lower quality digital audio sources could be an issue.

Sticking a high fidelity speaker into an almost sealed mobile phone might sound just as bad as they do now, Maybe that's why they focus on the low power usage.

I think the problems with sound previously all came from the pixels sticking and not operating correctly. Now that is fixed quality sound ought to be good. But we'll soon know I think.
