Lines plunge, planes dip. Examples of lines in geology: lineations on planes, rods, fold hinges, ore shoots.
I should correct my post regarding IP - it measures chargeability, not conductivity. So useful for identifying disseminated sulphide (as well as graphite and saline water). Resistive rocks (poor conductors) can still be chargeable - e.g. massive silica alteration with disseminated sulphide.
