Not sure where you got the idea that CGT has a lower tax rate than income, seeing as it is added to your tax return and taxed at your marginal tax rate in addition to any other forms of income on your tax return. The only difference with CGT is that you're entitled to a 50% discount on any capital gains if you held the asset for longer than 12 months.
