For me after reading the announcement I thought,It looks likely they have restrictions that I didn't expect ,eg It seems that mining the coal is out.The 500mts of coal=X amount of $ That I was factoring into the future profits of the company is gone.Sure I also thought positive about the csm but I was jumping to the conclusion they could do both ,Mine a percentage and go for the gas in the majority of the area.
The coal mining seems to be no more and I think the drop in share price has reflected this.
I might add when I told a friend who is interested in investing about mnm one of the things I harped on about was the value of 500mts of coal = a heck of a lot more than the current market cap.
Yes I know the coal seam gas is worth a lot, if it is there and it is the greenest and most culturally responsible to the traditional land holders. It actually makes me feel better about making money out of mnm because coal burning is a dirty business.
Anyway to sum up what I think.
You can't take the coal mining away without it affecting the share price.
The phosphate ,uranium, gold and csm still gives mnm a very bright future .I continue to hold for the upside.
