I am re-posting my earlier post (minus the few words that caught PD's eyes).

Some drills, such as myself, have held different views on Lindy to what they have about Corby. I could not believe Lindy was guilty, but I had nothing to prove that. Corby's family have a really bad history, and the idea that this is some sort of miscarriage of justice is too funny. Reminds me a bit of when the Bali 9 were made to strip down and kept denying they were guilty of carrying drugs - very funny.

My compassion is only for those who have become addicted to drugs (whatever they may be), and not for any drug peddlers.

I remember back in the 1970s my Economics lecturer saying that taking drugs was a "victimless" crime because it supposedly did not involve another party and the decision to take drugs was made rationally by the person (the "rational economic" man I suppose). In actual fact we now know much better. The whole society pays for it, and most particularly the family of the drug addict as well as the addict.

The jailing and execution of drug traffickers has a major deterent effect. Where strong penalties do not exist drug addiction is rampant, and encourages international drug trafficking such as the recent massive bust of drugs from our friends in the Peoples Republic of China.

To top it off, very young children are being peddled drugs at school. What future will they face, and how much say do they really in becoming addicted?
