Make sure you can trade equities before staring on CFD's, they are brutal and unforgiving. I blew up my CFD account twice before I got the hang of it. Your account can evaporate very quickly with leverage.
You need discipline, you have to be able to stick to your stoplosses. If a position goes against you and you can't stop out, cut it by half, it'll reduce the stress and allow you to think clearly. The brokerage is cheap anyway.
Start small for a while. Make sure you keep plenty of leverage in hand, don't overstretch yourself. Not a nice feeling when you start getting margin call e-mails!!
Most CFD providers will offer some type of education/seminars(CMC have a set of 6 dvd's worth watching, plenty of these end up on ebay for peanuts). Also there are a few books written specifically about CFD trading.
CFD's are a great addition to your trading tools, cheap and fast entrys/exits, abilty to go short easily and leverage.
But they can be deadly in inexperienced hands.
Good luck.
