In the solicitaion notice I do not like the bit that infers that QFT will be used as an "adjunct to the Mantoux tuberculin skin test".
At a recent TB conference there was some discussion that to soften the big increase in price of testing when moving from TST to QFT a TST should be done first and only those that are positive should then be given a QFT.
Some people from San Francisco said this was what they did in some populations. Many European guidelines are also supposed to suggest this two step approach.
Presumably this would considerably decrease the size of the market if adopted universally?
