My only comment is that 50 GHh equates to 45,000 tonnes LCE (337,500 tonnes 6% grade spodumene) to produce 1 million EVs (assuming each vehicle produced there has a battery size of 50kWh). Conversions posted elsewhere by me in this thread and opening post to thread for others.

Looking at Telsa, my understanding from news article is that its Stage 1 gigafactory in China costs some US$5 billion. When they first announced the concept, from recollection they were stating a cost around half this, but looks like reality caught up with cost.

For this US$5 billion price, the Tesla Shanghai factory is intended to produce some 500,000 EV vehicles per year, i.e. essentially making the GWh capacity of the Shanghai plant around 25 GWh. So maybe, US$10 billion to produce 1 million EVs?

Ironically though, I have also seen articles saying the Shaghai gigafactory might cost Telsa US$7.5 billion.

So going to the article - https://electrek.co/2019/06/13/chinese-firm-evergrande-electric-cars-batteries/ - I agree and suspect it is a misprint as you both correctly state. Suspect the cost for 50GWh, not 500 GWh, is around the US$10 billion mark - US$15 billion mark to produce 1 million EVs. If US$23 billion probably Evergrande are thinking of having GWH capacity of 75 GWh - 100 GWh, instead of 50GWh, and producing over 1 million EVs, just a guess????

That Evergrande GWh number to produce 1 million EVs also makes no sense against the forecasts of GWh capacity in China to 2025 - 2030 as well since the growth can't all be taken up by Evergrande - refer Post #: 37864742

But interesting how that news report of 500GWh is becoming 'folklore' across the internet LOL.

    All IMO
