I think the Lynas bid had a similarity with it being a bit of a fire sale bid at the time with the Malaysia issues. That is where the similarities end for me.
The big balance sheet of Wesfarmers' sudden huge thirst for rare earths and battery component metals makes a lot of sense considering where transport and energy industries are heading. The Kidman bid really rams that home.
Placing the vocus balance sheet to one side, I suspect AGL management copped a few phone calls over the weekend from big shareholders to tune of "what the f&%*...I dont want to be a holder of a communications company"...It was an odd decision.
