Starting a thread to look at the competition. I went back and forth on this topic a while ago with a few of the more thoughtful contributors.

facebook now has a subsidiary called Calibra which has 20+ partners like visa, MasterCard, Uber and lyft to help create and launch a payment platform that makes sending money as easy and as instant as sending a text message. This is technically possible and already being used (see MPesa for an example).

According to CEO of Calibra the goal is to drive acceptance then use them convert that into financial products. Seems like buy now pay later would be on that list.

this was always coming, let’s see what happens now.

And of course, there will be the usual “apt won’t be affected, going to $100” and “apt going to zero” comments. Not interested and would advise people to just block those like I do. Let’s you filter out the noise and have good chats with the more considered arguments and investors.
