with a few exceptions I couldn't agree more with the writer's assessment; that just about sums up how I would foresee things to pan out.
Only if our leaders and successive Governments around the world put 1% of their GDP and efforts towards peaceful means rather than focusing most of their effort on antagonising others; they would have been able to save the planet as well as their 5-10% of collective GNP and improve the quality of life (i.e. health and education)for mankind in a meaningful way.
