Govt should retrospectively pass laws that mandate that both the builder and developer be held accountable for any structural faults that cause damage for up to at least 20 years of the building completion date. If none found by 20 years the building can be deemed to have been professionally constructed. This is for structural defects only and not normal wear and tear issues. Currently they are liable but for far shorter periods.
