what does it mean

The latest announcement is guarded, yet positive.
The "indications of gas sands" are very likely to be increased gas, and sand in the returning drilling mud. This is a very positive indication. No gas in the mud = no gas in the hole. The "incomplete log suite" suggests some of the MWD (measurement while drilling) tools failed, which is not uncommon in deep holes, due to high temperature. The wire line logging tools available, and likely to be used in this well, recover side wall samples (which allow petroleum engineers to asses porosity and permeability), and recover reservoir fluids(this allows the actual well fluids to be evaluated for oil, gas, gas condensate and water). Other wire line tools measure resistivity, porosity and permeability too.
I've been working in the oil industry for 30+ years, and am encouraged by this announcement.
As always, DYOR, and do not take this post as advice! It is just my opinion, and I'd like to stress I am NOT working on the Marley well, but overseas!
