I had to buy work boots recently. I had the chance to buy Chinese made boots that looked as good as anything australia has made but at less than 40 bucks. But I chose ozzie made Rossi boots at $89. Am I mad? No! I bought them because I know they'll withstand anything my job will throw at them, along with the comfort that's legendary with the brand. One less pair of boots to come from China and another pair of boots coming from an Australian factory. I might go out and buy more while I can, because there's no way that factory will still be making boots in 5 years time - guaranteed! Blundstones were the best at one stage. But now they're Chinese made and (allegedly) the boots have serious longevity issues where tradies are returning them within a week of purchase. Sorry if you're Chinese or can't handle the truth. We also have Kraft making our crackers in China - you know Chicken in a Biscuit? Yeah, usually they sell at $2 a box, but every now and then they'll sell for 99 cents just to hit Arnott's hard, which makes Pizza and Savory shapes etc. The Kraft factory would be pumping them out at roughly 5 cents a box. Expect Arnott's to go offshore within 5 years as well. Those of you think that's fair I think you're all kinding yourselves. Long term continuation of these trends will smash the economies of the Western world beyond repair.
