The problem the Burmese have with Rohingya goes back a long time. IMO this will not be resolved anytime soon. Whilst the Shan state is 1/3 of Myanmar, it borders China, Thailand and Laos, the Rohingya do not live in this area. There is lots of Buddhist temples in this area. Google how the Chinese treat muslims and you will see why they are not there in great numbers.
