Other companies in the same space put out data and pipelines all the time and after a short flurry of retail investor interest the share price languishes and sometimes falls below where it was before the announcement.
This game is more about the funds and institutions and partners getting in early and as low as possible before announcements are carefully timed to generate maximum return.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Roivant and Benitec boards contrived to terminate the contract forcing the small number of retail investors to flee so they can get in low with shares and options. And then announce a hep B deal with Merck.
That is what is happening to Benitec now.
