didnt comment on the user experience. commented on human psychology/physiology and human history.
lava lamps were a fad and adults tend to prefer steady xmas lights while children love the pulsing variety and dimmer switches didnt last
human dna developed under and so prefers consistent light in the white/yellow 'to our eyes' spectrum as a rule for carrying out tasks.
alternatives exhibit a strong attraction initially as mood setters and as ego projection when no 'task' needs doing - dimmer switches were huge seller when first came out - but over time majority - though not all ofc gradually wind down and finally stop using
no different to uni chicks going nuts on candles - 10 years later not a candle to be seen much of the time
dimmer switch on a wall is just as easy to use as a handheld control device.
i would expect human neural pathways to behave the same way as it has before. but its not universal. there are still people who love their dimmer switches - long after they stopped selling in serious quantity.
