Redflow batteries require Zinc as a raw material.
Zinc is obtained from mining, similar to Lithium is obtained from mining.
There is an environmental impact from Zinc mining as well.

The good news is that recycling a Redflow battery should be a lot cheaper and easier than recycling a Lithium battery because the Zinc Bromide solution from a ZBM2 only needs to be purified before that zinc Bromide solution can be put into a brand new battery.
