I thought they'd respond to the trade war thing by choking everyone else to death. But, smack bang in the middle of a trade war they show the US that they're so confident of their lead that they dispense with protectionism and are ready to fully open the doors now to whatever works best/fastest because they'll be the net beneficiaries at every point in the entire product chain - employment, steel, batteries etc. You got to admit they're very capable policy wonks and willing to adjust and tweak on the fly. A long way from the sullen grey communist caricature that US likes to project on them. They use provinces and cities as testing grounds for policy and products and then adjust it if things fail, blow up etc. The scale of the commitment to new energy is breath-taking.

They have no choice but to embrace the new energy revolution or choke to death in their own pollution. I have been in Lagos in Nigeria heading to Victoria Island from out of the city. Thick in smog, traffic crawling and having difficulty in breathing.
