It seems that some investment newsletter has noticed this and recommended it since there are now 153 people (and counting) trying to buy 4000 shares at 17.5. I noticed this when the 45% bid was announced and sold down my holding so that I have 4500 shares and intend to accept. That fact that this trick has been recommended I think increases the chance of the bid getting up.
