I use the Huntley stuff as a guide, but still run my own numbers. The biggest assumptions and drivers of DCF are EPS and the discount rate. I agree its hard to get right, but it is a starting point.
At the moment there are numerous industrial stocks where I would get the intrinsic value from NTA, rather than DCF. They're trading such a big discount to book value, near-term cashflows are irrelevant (assuming solvency).
