also speaking from what i have done we used to used diamond paste and liquids for lapping faces for our mech, seals which are in pumps for the mining, gas and oil industry
diamond blades tips especially in machining hard materials
used in machining of cast iron as they wear less thrown in the bin when useless or worn too much god knows what they cost each tip
