On the ABC last evening - Question and Answer - Christine Milne of The Greens claimed that renewable energy was capable of providing base load power. She specifically claimed that solar power was one option - and that if we closed down all our current power stations renewables could take over.
She further argued that we should embrace severe cuts to emission levels and wait for the inevitable innovations and inventions that would come as a result - no examples, just wait and presumably pray?
Andrew Bolt, who dominated the discussion intellectually and rationally, was seen to be shaking his head in disbelief as this nutter espoused her simplistic views.
