I really can't figure out this obsession with modern cookery in that they need to add sugar to everything.
I ask why, and I get told- "oh, it's to balance out the savoury". And I'm like, what?
It's corned beef, fer chrissakes. It's meant to be a savoury dish. If someone served me that one in a restaurant I'd send it straight back.
