Reality check. Back in our last recession we had the State Bank of Vic and State Bank SA both go under and be absorbed by other institutions. The taxpayer bailed them out, if you recall, when the CBA absorbed State Bank Vic.
The merchant bank arm (Tricontinental) also went bye bye losing tax payers many many public service jobs.
