I pay no tax anyway as I am retired and once you become a non-tax resident of Australia of which I am and have been for 5 years now means that no CGT is payable on shares but that does NOT apply to other type of assets like property for example which still attracts CGT if you have it and I don't.
I had an accountant who screwed this up years ago but since my new accountant arrived I was finally given the correct information and she has saved me a bundle. You have to cease your SMSF after a max of 2 years O/S as well which I have.
