Saw this first hand CV, in ‘89 /‘90.

SA farmers thrashed by drought headed to Olympic Dam mine. Left the land.
there was reasonable money and lots of overtime available, so most were soon “rolling in it”.

and so they borrowed, buying new LandCruisers, new leather lounge suites, massive tv’s, swimming pools, they got it all.

Many of them soon owed more than they did when they went up there.
soon the overtime wasnt “optional”.

Soon, they werent families.
