AXIOM REMAINS COMPLIANT WITH SAA TERMS
Axiom Mining Limited has maintained that it has complied with the terms of its Surface Access Agreement (SAA) with landowners of its Mining Lease site on San Jorge in Isabel Province.
Axiom General Manager Dr Phil Tagini made the statement in response to the misleading claim in today’s front-page article of the Island Sun newspaper that the Australian mining company has failed to fulfil the terms of agreement of its SAA with landowners.
Dr Tagini said as far as Axiom’s SAA with landowners is concerned, the company has complied with the terms of the agreement and further subsequent agreements pertaining to milestone payments.
On the issue of Axiom’s Export Permit application, Dr Tagini said the Minerals Board’s decision to turn down the company’s application based on a consideration outside the Mines and Minerals Regulations was clearly wrong and untenable.
“Those are the kinds of considerations the law attempts to preclude, yet that was exactly what happened. Those were political considerations, not legal ones and the company is considering the best way to deal with this matter is through the court process,” Dr Tagini added.
