NEWSMCA urges Fuziah to ask Guan Eng to apologize for the Lynas issue
News | PublishedToday is 10:59 am | UpdatedToday is 10:59 am
MCA President Wee Ka Siong called on Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Fuziah Salleh to stop "ranting" on the Lynas issue and instead asked Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng to apologize to the people for his statement at the 2012 anti-Lynas rally.
Wee, who is also MP for Ayer Hitam, said this following Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's announcement that the Lynas Corp Australia license would be extended if the rare earth-based company provided a coherent plan to manage radioactive waste from its plant.
Instead of fuzzing on the issue, he asked Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng to apologize to Malaysians or retract his words in this video.
"Otherwise, it would be in vain for Fuziah to write long," Wee said in a statement today.

Wee also included a link to a video clip featuring Lim at the 2012 anti-Lynas rally in Georgetown.
Lim, who was Penang's chief minister at the time, spoke out to denounce Lynas.
"The choice is between Pakatan Rakyat against Lynas, against nuclear plant or do we want BN to want Lynas and nuclear plant? Which one do you want?" Lim said in his speech at the time.
Meanwhile, Fuziah in a statement following Dr Mahathir's announcement confirmed his stand that Lynas should not be allowed to operate.
In that statement, Fuziah criticized certain cabinet members who he said were "still with the BN" when he and others opposed Lynas in the past.
"They continue to be misled by Lynas because they were with the previous government and they understood the Lynas issue from the previous government assessment page and failed to grasp the real issue of Lynas being fought by me and my colleagues," he said.
Wee said Fuziah's statement was an attempt to point fingers at BN.
"While Pakatan Harapan has been ruling the country for more than a year!
"It is funny that Fuziah, who is also a Deputy Minister and Member of Parliament for Kuantan, also slammed PH's partner. Maybe he wants to save himself.
Clearly, the PH government today has not reached agreement with each other, "Wee said.
