I too second that the sulphur costs are a red herring. Remember these guys are sulphide miners, mining nickel sulphides. Why would they need to buy sulphuric acid?

The reverse is true. The sulphuric acid is produced at Kambalda primarily as an offtake of the smelting of nickel sulphide ores. BHP's smelter is down for repairs, hence the sulphuric acid used in mines such as SRL's Whim Creek and ABY's Nifty, and MRE's Murrin Murrin (plus Cawse, and Ravensthorpe) is out of action. This affects laterite miners only, and oxide copper producers.
