This issue is not new...Australians don't want to work as it is too easy to be a bludger...it is nothing new.

I have owned and run many businesses over the years, but I do recall back in the early 80's when i was running an earth moving business, i advertised for a truck driver. As any employer knows when you advertise for staff the two first questions asked are "what are the hours", and "what will I be paid".

I had a few applicants but one of the applicants after answering his two main questions above, told me it would not be worth taking the job as by the time he paid for the fuel to drive to work and back, he would have less cash left than what he currently received in benefits...this was back in the last century...in the 1980's!

In schools these days a work ethic isn't taught at all, one of the few things actually taught to kids these days are their "rights"...and what they can receive from the "Government" in benefits.
