You need to know about morning auction (also perhaps closing auction).

Two things about it:

1- The price which orders will be processed based on is calculated with some formula (in my opinion problematic), but never the less, it means, if someone puts an order in with a silly price, they are (geberally) safe at actually opening.

2- people play games by putting orders in which they retract in the last millisecond and the idea is to make other think there will be a price increase or drop and then they withdraw theirs and other people lose money! .... Day trading games.

That's why u get some 10's millions added after opening for this stock for example.
