From today's AFR:
The $500 million company Audio Pixels says its latest prototype failed testing due to "slight anomalies that exist between the perfect world of computer simulation, and the imperfect world of fabrication and material behaviour". While engineers were able to conduct acoustic testing for the first time, the measured output was below targeted specifications.
Audio Pixels was founded in 2006 and has been developing its digital speakers for the past 13 years, with no products yet commercially available. Chairman and founder Fred Bart owns about 6 per cent of the company, with shares up 1.2 per cent today to $17.70.
The company is making small changes production "with minimal disruption to the fabrication pipeline". Audio Pixels will now put more resources into larger scale production and commercial packaging.
