Surprise ,surprise. they have been wrong .Spot on DJ .Stockpiles continue to get caned ,and some analysts had the simple view that the high tin price would cause more supply to come online .In actual fact the reverse is happening .Indonesian tin production is falling ,and pt Timah's land based mines are encountering problems ,as well as the illegal tin mining has been halted .Chinas May production was down 16.2 % on last years May figure .
China is now a net importer of tin .Analysts are predicting demand growth of 10% per year for tin in china .Unless there is some huge mines coming on that I dont know about ,then the stockpiles will run out totally .
Korea is looking at purchases for their strategic stockpiles ,and US are reviewing their stockpiles with a view to purchases ,and Japans May imports jumped 39% .The fundamentals for tin are better than anything I have seen in years ,both in the short term and long term .
