You talk about the environmental damage of disposing of the infrastructure of petrol stations. Mate, clearly you have no concept of the scale of damage that climate change will do to the environment and your life, your livelihood and that of your children. I remember a journalist questioning Tony Abbott at the start of the G 20 in Brisbane. Mr. Abbott was asked “ I guess you’ll be talking a lot about climate change during the G 20 Mr. Abbott”? Mr. Abbott replied, I doubt it, climate change has nothing to do with the economy’. I think myself and about 20 other people in the room took about 20 minutes to stop rolling around on the floor in laughter’. It was like having our own Donald Trump. Seriously, when you have people like that in the world who is so stupid (and running a country for gods sake) it is no wonder that there are other people around who also just don’t get it. My advice to you is to go away and do some research, turn off the radio, and start listening to a more varied point of view out there in the community. It is starting to get to the point now where people who start talking so much crap about the damage to the economy and the environment that EV’s and renewable energy will do, will stand out as being pretty stupid and will rightly be lambasted. To answer your point, underground storage tanks could be sealed and left underground. This is obviously not ideal but all we are trying to do here is as best as possible undo the unbelievable damage that has been done and is continuing to be done, as best as possible. When did you think we should start fixing up the damage ??? Of course people will need to be retrained, people will lose their jobs. This was always going to happen. It has happened throughout history as our species evolved, learnt and changed its practices two more efficient ways ......in other words we progressed. Just remember, about 80% of Aussie’s travel less than 400km in a week ! Which will be about 2/3 of a charge, but can charge from home using renewable and FREE energy. By the way have you heard that they are building charging stations for electric vehicles on country roads and in small towns with some charging stations able to charge your car in about 20 to 30 minutes. Just enough time to go and read the paper have a cuppa and do what you should do anyway every couple of hours of driving. Many of those roadhouses you are concerned about will remain to recharge electric vehicles and provide the other services the people require.
Yes, question everything you read and hear, but please do it rationally and with an open mind. Please don’t just repeat crap you have heard without thinking about it first.
